About this course
With an improved understanding of what constitutes an ‘industrial accident’, participants will be better able to prevent, prepare and respond to these types of incidents. By taking the course, participants will also gain an understanding of when countries should ask and receive international assistance in preparation for or in response to an industrial accident. The course is available in English, French, Russian and Chinese.

Learning objectives
- Understand what is meant by “industrial accident;
- Recognize the importance of creating or managing a national programme for industrial accidents;
- List the most important stakeholders in establishing and running a programme for industrial accidents;
- List the benefits of promoting local level preparedness for industrial accidents;
- Distinguish the need for countries to improve the cooperation and coordination between themselves;
- Repeat the phases of a national industrial accidents programme;
- Recognize the need for public authorities to develop a regulatory framework;
- Identify the core elements that form part of an effective safety system;
- Identify when and how to ask and receive international humanitarian assistance during an industrial accident.
