Good Practices and Resources on Sustainable Development Goals Monitoring

As part of its regular work program and to follow up on the decisions of the United Nations Statistical Commission, the Inter-Agency and Expert Group on SDG Indicators (IAEG-SDGs) has focused its work on the implementation of the SDG indicator framework by compiling and sharing resources, experiences, and good practices on SDG monitoring. The IAEG-SDGs and the Statistics Division of UN DESA (UNSD) have developed a questionnaire to gather good practices from national statistical offices and regional and international organizations in the following areas:  SDG data disaggregation; national SDG platforms, dashboards, SDG portals and other progress assessment tools; communication of SDG data; and bridging data gaps for the SDG indicators.

The Statistics Division has prepared this website to compile all inputs received from the questionnaire, showcasing good practices and providing links to resources, information or other materials provided by countries and UN regional commissions on SDG monitoring. In addition, this website also includes a compilation of existing tools and resources on data disaggregation for the SDGs based on responses from an IAEG-SDGs/UNSD stock-taking questionnaire sent in 2020 to United Nations Statistical Commission established city and expert groups, international expert groups and committees, as well as United Nations agencies and stakeholders focusing on particular population groups, disaggregation dimensions and data collection methods.

This website is kept as a living document and new content will be added as it becomes available. The IAEG-SDGs and UNSD invite countries, regional and international organizations to submit their good practices and examples in SDG monitoring.
