In this publication, Rob van Tulder (Professor of International Business-Society Management at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University) offers seven principles for organisations to help them understand how to use the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a strong mechanism for guiding their strategic planning in view of sustainable development.

In the book, Van Tulder argues that collaboration between organisations and across sectors is essential to effectively address the grand societal challenges (or wicked problems). He presents a framework for designing broader, pro-active, purpose-driven business models, as well as for identifying the ‘tipping points’ at which organisations will begin to create positive effects based on the SDG’s.

This publication provides a solid understanding of the relevance of the SDG framework for business, and of the contribution that business, together with civil society and governmental organisations, can make to solve those wicked societal problems.
