This self-paced course aims to raise awareness about the importance of the Tampere Convention, how to undertake the ratification process as well as implementation at the nation Description al level.
The course consists of the following three modules:
- Introduction to the Tampere Convention,
- Ratification of the Tampere Convention, and
- Implementation of the Tampere Convention.

This e-learning course is aimed at Member States’ public and private telecommunication sector, foreign ministers, disaster management authorities and designated officials.
Learning objectives
The learning outcomes of this course are to:
- Improve understanding of the importance of the Tampere Convention on the Provision of Telecommunications Resources for Disaster M itigation and Relief Operations, relevant UN and ITU resolutions and the general provisions of the Convention;
- Understand the process of ratification of the Tampere Convention, including who can sign the Convention and when it will enter into force;
- Understand the process, benefits and challenges associated with implementing the Tampere Convention, including different responsibilities of State Parties and the Operational Coordinator.
