About this course
This course is primarily intended for those who play a role in data collection, analysis and reporting for Indicator 5.a.1- Equal tenure rights for women on agricultural land.
There are four lessons in this course:
Lesson 1:Introduction to indicator on equal tenure rights for women on agricultural land (30 minutes)
Lesson 2: Key definitions such as agricultural population, agricultural land, land ownership etc. (30 minutes)
Lesson 3: Collecting the data; recommended data sources and survey modules (40 minutes)
Lesson 4: Computing the 5.a.1 Indicator (30 minutes)
Policy-makers or advisors, directors and staff of NSOs, national SDG focal points, representatives from legal and human rights institutions.
The first lesson introduces the indicator 5.a.1 on equal tenure rights for women on agricultural land, its role in the SDG monitoring framework, and especially its relationship with the other Target 5.a and the indicator, 5.a.2. The second lesson defines the key terms used in the phrasing of the indicator 5.a.1, including “agricultural land”, “agricultural population” and “land ownership and land tenure rights”. An understanding of these is an important foundation for precursor of effective data collection. The third lesson provides guidance for the collection of data needed to calculate the Indicator 5.a.1. It includes an explanation of recommended data sources, survey modules for use in different surveys, and an explanation of the process of customization to the country context. And finally the last lesson provides guidance for computing the indicator 5.a.1.
