This is a competency-based training and will equip participants with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to use procedures and programs effectively during the data capture of a DHS. Special emphasis will be placed on Computer Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI). Other key aspects of the course will focus on generating all necessary dictionaries, forms, applications, and menus used during the data capture of a DHS survey. This includes all applications that will be used for data capture, data transfer, structure checking, and secondary editing, as well as the menu programs that manage the data collection. Although the course focuses on DHS surveys, the acquired skills are also applicable to other types of surveys.

Target Audience

This course targets professionals involved during the data processing of a DHS, as well as potential south-to-south consultants assisting The DHS Program. It aims at providing participants with the abilities to use procedures and programs effectively during the data capture of a DHS.
